With 6 (ex 7) plates 3 of which are folding, and 21 text-illustrations. 1st edition, first issue with publishers' advertisements at end dated November 1872. Ex-library copy with rubbed spine extremities & rubbed corners, otherwise a good uncut copy. NOTE: This was Darwin's third book following on from 'On the Origin of Species' and 'The Descent of Man'. It was originally intended as a single essay but then grew into its owns book.
